Only 20 minutes west of downtown Calgary sits Harmony, the city’s most holistically considered master-planned community. The only west-side lake community in the Calgary area, Harmony will surround a recreational lake and bring leading environmental stewardship practices to life in a way that makes living in Springbank easy and responsible. At completion, there will be approximately 3500 residences in a diverse range of estate, family, urban-style and even multifamily homes interlaced with rolling green spaces, water ways, public art and amenities. A vibrant village centre, boutique market and café spaces, aging-in-place living and education facilities for all ages are the hallmark to which Harmony is created. With its mix of residential product, living and business campuses; Harmony is a community unlike any other in the area, in fact it will also be home to the landmark Phil Mickelson National Golf Club – an outstanding golf course that will welcome passionate players and even PGA tournaments in coming years.
Communities on the West Side of Calgary have enjoyed both faster than normal absorption rates and higher property values. However, constant demand for land and political pressure to limit the release of such land, has now created a lack of developable land supply in this quadrant of the City. On October 7th, 2008, Bordeaux was successful in attaining land use re-designation for 1,748 acres of land for Harmony. The approval marked the most important step towards creating one of the most comprehensive, mixed-use, holistically master-planned towns in North America. Due to general development constraints on land, Harmony will enjoy being the only new master-planned community to have successfully attained approvals on the West Side of Calgary in recent years and most likely for many more to come.
In 2014, Bordeaux partnered with Qualico Communities and formed a development agreement to begin building of the project. Construction on Stage 1 is underway and Phase 1 showhome parades launched in December of 2015. Major utilities and infrastructure are now in place, featuring showhomes from 6 builders, and a world class Discovery Centre. Harmony has garnered much attention; for years developers have tried to receive municipal approval to develop lands on the West Side of Calgary. The West continues to be the most popular quadrant because of its proximity to the downtown core, the University of Calgary, Foothills Hospital, Mount Royal University, and Banff National Park.We are truly excited to create a community which all of Rocky View County can be proud of.
